Here for a Good Time

Blog by: Lata Advani Viseu

A very good friend of mine
Told me something the other day
I’d like to pass it on to you
‘Cause I believe what he said to be true

He said we’re here for a good time
Not a long time (not a long time)
So have a good time
The sun can’t shine every day
We’re Here for a Good Time (Not a long Time)

As I looked out from my balcony at the night sky, the moon was shining down and the stars were twinkling bright. I was in awe thinking how beautiful it all was and how the same moon that shines on me, shines on you too.

It does not care whether you are black, white or brown, whether you are a Catholic, Muslim, Hindu or an atheist. It shines on each one without discrimination. Long after we are gone, the moon will continue to come out and the stars will twinkle on. To think how insignificant we really are, in the grand scheme of the Universe!

There is no one in this world like any of us, we are each one of us special and at the same time because we are unique, we are all the same. We are all connected through our humanity. When we judge and hate others or think we are more special than others, it is only our ego because we really are all equally special and unique.

We have no idea how much time we have left on earth, the moment you were born a death sentence was handed out because the only guarantee in life, is death and yet we are so afraid of death. Death does not stop us humans from doing everything to make sure we bring it on sooner by continuing to fight and kill each other.

So many people have died in 2020, it has been an unusual year where it feels like the Universe is trying desperately to re-set itself. As we get older, the inevitable death of loved ones begins to sneak into our thoughts. When our time is up, there is no second chance to make it right. Why waste your time on petty things when you do not know whether you have a day, a month, a year or a couple of decades left with the ones you love? How many more years of your limited time on this earth are you willing to sacrifice?

Live life to the fullest, accept others just the way they are, as you would expect them to accept you as you are. You are only here for a short time so have a good time the sun can’t shine everyday.

“There is no equality. The only thing people all have in common is that they are all going to die” – Bob Dylan

“The bad news is nothing lasts forever,
The good news is nothing lasts forever.”
